Some links are inoperable
I have Firefox 47.0 on a late 2011 13" Macbook Pro, with 8 mg of memory, running OS X 10.11.5 (15F34).
In the past week, when I click on SOME links, there is no response. Some don't even show that they are capable of doing something (showing a different color, opening a text box, etc.)
It's happened on multiple sites. It happens in mail, as well, but that may be the same issue as Firefox is my default browser.

It could be that the 'link' you are trying to use is just plain text.
You can right-click and select "Inspect Element" to open the Inspector ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Web Developer) with this element selected to see if you click a link or that some other element is selected.

Can you post a link to a publicly accessible page (i.e. no authentication or signing on required)?
If you use extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) that can block content (e.g. Adblock Plus, NoScript, Flash Block, Ghostery) then make sure such extensions do not block content. There is security software that can interfere with loading content, so check that as well.
Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.
- Switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Appearance
- Do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window

Do you ever notice # being added to the URL in the address bar after clicking one of those links? If so, I suspect they are scripted and for some reason the script is not running correctly (or at all).
