I've read your solutions, but nothing helps. I have no malware, used about:cache & my cache still won't delete or it deletes going backward that takes forever.Yes, I go back out, back in, nothing works. What are you doing about this problem.

Make sure that you do not run Firefox in permanent Private Browsing mode (Always use Private Browsing mode; Never Remember History).

  • Tools > Options > Privacy > Firefox will: "Use custom settings for history"
  • Deselect: [ ] "Always use Private Browsing mode"

You can clear the disk cache manually on the hard drive. You can find the location of the disk cache on the about:cache page. Also make sure that you do not use external cleanup software to prevent corruption of the cache.

Firefox uses two locations for the Firefox profile folder. Location used for the main profile in "AppData\Roaming".

  • C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<profile>\

Location used for the disk cache and other temporary files in "AppData\Local".

  • C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<profile>\

"AppData" (XP: Application Data; Mac: ~/Library; Linux: ~/.mozilla) is a hidden folder.
