When I open a new tab, it opens a new window instead. Also where is the small new tab box that lived on top of the page for quick new tab opening. I already went to options - tabs - and checked off all options to figure this out but it does not work. All new tabs I open keep opening a new window.

hello, can you try to replicate this behaviour when you launch firefox in safe mode once? if not, maybe an addon is interfering here...
