how can I get rid of the 2 Google search boxes on the new tab page. there is the standard Google search box and below another smaller one which recently appeared, it doesn't have the Google logo so I suspect some other program put it there

Seçilen çözüm

Disable the Add Google Search To New Tab Page 1.0.2 extension to get rid of that one.

Or use install Stylish - https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/stylish/

Then install this UserStyle - https://userstyles.org/styles/103765/fx-31-about-newtab-hide-the-search-bar - to hide the one that is part of Firefox 31.

fixed the problem:

somehow the add on (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/add-google-search-to-new-ta/?src=userprofile) that shows a no logo Google search box had inexplicably installed itself (I sure don't remember doing so) and was causing this 2nd search box to appear below the regular search box with the Google logo. removing that add on got rid of that search bar

to hide the standard Google search bar I installed the 'new tab tools' add on (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/new-tab-tools/?src=search)

Now I'm back to a standard tile page with no search boxes
