Firefox always downloads to temp directory

Hi there,

I am using Firefox 80.0.1 in Ubuntu 18.04, although I have also encountered the following problem in previous versions of Firefox.

I have Firefox configured to always ask me where to download files.

Whenever I try to download a file, Firefox always suggests as destination directory a temporary directory, such as:

/run/user/1000/doc/643c8d42

It doesn't matter if I choose a different location, next time I try to save a file Firefox always defaults to a similar temp directory.

I have tried fiddling with the variables browser.download variables, such as browser.download.LastDir, but it does not fix the problem.

Any suggestions, please? Thanks in advance.
