This will be brief.

Can I rename the .corrupt file to restore my logins and passwords? This seems to have occurred during the last update. I am have heart palpitations. I have no other backups.

I have two .corrupt files created at the same time (see image), but their appear identical. This is odd. Does this even matter.

thanks for your help,

Liz

Are those corrupt files valid JSON ?

You can possibly check this by renaming the file and add .json file extension and open the file in a Firefox tab.

If the files are valid JSON then there might have been a problem with the key file (key4.db) that stores the encryption key.

You can look a utility to browse System Restore points to see if you have valid logins.json and a matching key4.db file.
