Probably you have xp with sp2 or sp3 without the necessary update, do not try from the download site because the latest firefox needs update KB2763674.

The KB2763674 update is for Vista.

You need WinXP SP3 in order to run 43.0.2 and newer including 47.0.1 due to signing of setups. Since it is not possible to tell by useragents if the WinXP user has SP2 or SP3 installed the 43.0.1 is served as a version WinXP users can install and then update to current from.
