Videos will play if I go to Youtube. Most embedded videos will play on Facebook. Vine nor vidme videos will not play, in addition to many others.

I have done everything I know to do, including trying the videos in Firefox's safe mode, updating all my add-ons, and even reinstalling Firefox.

It has been going on for weeks, and I have avoided coming here to send this message, simply because I figured with my computer savvy, and 100+ tries that I could get i to finally work. But NO. Some of them work in IE, and some of them don't. I never use IE unless it's to troubleshoot Firefox issues.

Please help!

Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache. In order to try to fix these problems, the first step is to clear both cookies and the cache. Note: This will temporarily log you out of all sites you're logged in to. To clear cache and cookies do the following:

  1. Click the menu button New Fx Menu, choose History, and then "Clear Recent History...".
  2. Under "Time range to clear", select "Everything".
  3. Now, click the arrow next to Details to toggle the Details list active.
  4. From the details list, check Cache and Cookies and uncheck everything else.
  5. Now click the "Clear Now" button.

Further information can be found in the Delete browsing, search and download history on Firefox article.

Type about:addons in URL and Goto Plugins

  • Check all the plugins are "Always Active"

Somewhere on the page right click, go to view page info > permissions and make sure that adobe flash content is allowed to play on that domain. Flash in Protected mode occurs issues too

Hello,

I am unable to find what you are talking about in step-3. I don't see "details" anywhere, and definitely no arrow. Please elaborate.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

Thanks Cor-el, but if you'll notice in my original post, I said I've already tried that. The same videos that don't play, also don't play when in safe mode.

Still waiting on a clarification regarding step-3 of iamjayakumars' initial post, although I doubt it's going to have any bearing upon my issue. Sorry for my pessimism, but as I said, I've already scoured the Internet (including the Mozilla Firefox Help forums) for solutions for this issue -- all to no avail.

I'm hoping your subsequent replies will have a solution.

Thank you.

Screw it! Thanks for all the help, Mozilla! This is exactly why I hesitated to come here and ask a question in the first place.. because I had already read so many unsolved similar issues!

As a technically-proficient, degreed, unemployed 20-year computer savvy, 43-year old professional, I find it depressing and totally unacceptable that no one in your company can figure out a solution for this.
