I do a lot of research and book marks tons of sites. I want to file them at the moment not later. I don't want to dump them in an unassorted file and then go back later and sort them. How can I configure my bookmarks like the old way. Why one earth do you do it this way. I can't do a search if I don't know what I have , so I have to browse them some times to see. I hate this new way. It is pathetic, I need the old way NOW

Specifically, which was the last version that you would say was the "old style"?

If you mean the last version before the Unsorted Bookmarks folder appeared in Firefox - that would be Firefox 2.0.0.20. Firefox 3.0 was released on 06-17-2008, close to 7 years ago.

Maybe a screenshot of what you are talking about might help us answer you better.

when I want to book mark a site, I want to open my files and put it in the file I want it in right then and there. I "bookmark" so many doing research, I might not know where it goes later. I hate DUMPING them all in, Also I can't do "search" as I don't even remember what I marked, so how can I search for it. I have been able to configure the program to do what I want until about 4 months ago. I have not updated and I won't. I am not alone, about this, there are hundreds just like me, all you have to do is look on the internet. I hate the new DUMPING way. It is quick it is fast and it is useless for me.

  • Clicking the star on the Navigation toolbar will bookmark the page in the "Unsorted Bookmarks" folder and the star turns blue to show that
  • Bookmarks > "Bookmark This Page" (Ctrl+D) will bookmark the page in the Bookmarks Menu folder (you need to confirm that)
  • "Bookmark This Page" can be accessed via the right-click context menu in the browsing area or via the Bookmarks menu in the Firefox menu button drop down or menu bar (Alt+B)
  • If the URL in the current tab is bookmarked and the star is highlighted blue then click this highlighted star or use "Bookmark This Page/Edit This Bookmark" (Ctrl+D) to edit the properties of the bookmark like name and location and move the bookmark to another folder or remove the bookmark

what was once a very simple process is not more complex. I could click twice and book mark a site into the folder I wanted, not it is just more steps. You took something that wasn't broken and broke it. I just wont update Firefox until It won't work any more. That solves most of my problem. I updated it on my lap top that I don't use much, this is how I know how it works or doesn't work for me. Just a question. Ok, a question for you, you made a "Dump" for bookmarks in the newer system. Why couldn't you have left the old way alone along with it? People don't like this newer way or haven't you read what people are saying? WE DO NOT LIKE IT. It is easy as that. ONe of your problems, like with Apple, is that you think you know what is best even if we don't like it. Enough I have solved my problem, I just won't update or change to another.

It should still be possible to click the star twice, the first time to bookmark the current tab and a second time to edit the bookmark and move ti from the unsorted folder to another folder. Firefox only doesn't remember the last choice.

You can look at this extension mentioned above if you haven't done this yet:
