I have tried the plug in update and it tells me that Java needs to be updated but I am not sure if Firefox is using 64 or 32. Please advise.

Firefox is currently only available as a 32 bit application, so you need 32 bit versions of plugins.

I'm not a developer, I'm a hardware/ OS guy so I'm sure my question will get me a lot of eye rolls. but I know personally I've been monitoring the progress of 64 bit browsers especially Firefox, and Mozilla has had multiple versions of a 64 bit browser, the most recent I believe WAS version 8, but now that version 8 will be the next major upgrade, Version 10 is going to be the version released with a full feature 64 bit version.

OK OK I'll get to the point. Why is 64 bit such a huge problem for mozilla that it keeps getting delayed... over... and over... and over? We're talking over several years. Im sure it's a valid reason but being a hardware guy, after a couple years of the same pattern, I finally have to ask. I'm mean even Adobe has beat you to the world of 64 bit with their version of flash. And that's saying something because they were really dragging their feet. (for the record firefox is my browser of choice hence my inquiry)

If you use a 64 bit Firefox version then all plugins that you want to use need to be 64 bit versions as well.

So if you visit a page that uses a plugin that is only available in a 32 bit version then you would be out of luck. There aren't that many plugins that have 64 bit versions and work with a 64 bit Firefox version. On Mac Firefox 4+ is a 64 bit version and you get both versions of Firefox and can switch to the 32 bit version if needed.

Is it normal that an FTP-address with his software, is open for all persons in the world or are there ristrictions (login/passwords)? Because If you watch this URL URL (the same as above in a message) and analying the Parent Directory you find a lot more software.... you can watch the uploads which come in at the real time (uploads with nicknames) in the different directories. In my opinion (I think) it's not the intendion of Firefox to open all try-out software because the want it....? From Marz till November 2011 you can watch in this Parent Parent directory.

Why Firefox want to put all data of candidates on the street, If somwthing is not going as usual than where is the protection??? And where can I call alarm?

While the main tree of FireFox 7 is only 32-bit for windoz. There is a non-branded compiled version called BlazingFast from www.binaryturf.com optimized for win 7 64-bit. And there are add-ons that have 64-bit versions available; eg colorfultabs, ghostery, and ad block plus.

Although BlazingFast RC 8 (64-bit) isn't out yet, give it a couple of weeks.

Pax,
