Hello, When composing emails with Thunderbird frequently when i go to delete a character or edit something i've written it stalls out, then after about a minute comes back but flashing. I have to click in various places (the To field, the From field, the message field) before i can get it to stop flashing and delete/replace the sentence i wish to edit. It only started happening after this latest upgrade. I'm not sure how to be more descriptive than that though. Thanks for any assistance. Jenna

Is there any difference in safe mode (hold Option when launching TB)? The hardware acceleration setting in Preferences/General/Indexing might have to be changed (toggled).

Thank you! I didn't try launching into safe mode, but i did go into preferences and toggled the "hardware acceleration" to OFF. So far this seems to have made the problem disappear. If it comes back i'll let you know. Thank you for your help!

Hardware acceleration is one feature that is disabled in safe mode. Prior to TB 78, it was always disabled in normal mode by default, which was suitable for the vast majority of users, but the developers made the misguided decision to enable it by default last year.
