I know this is a known problem. I Just wanted to report it's still happening with my FF 27.0.1. Is it an iframe issue or a download manager issue? i do have "Always ask me where to save files" selected (and prefer to keep it that way).

You can download them via Softpedia. The links point to the installers on Apple servers, so you're getting them right from the source.

I have no issues downloading them. Check if one of your add-ons is to blame. Open the Help menu — either from the orange Firefox button or the menu bar — and choose Restart with Add-ons Disabled. If the problem persists with add-ons disabled, see the following article if you want to troubleshoot website issues.

This is/was a known problem. It only happens when trying to download iTunes or Quicktime from Apple with Firefox. According to Bugzilla It was looking like it was an iframe/https issue but people started to question if it may be a download manager issue.

Safe-mode doesn't fix the problem. IE and Chrome work so I don't need softpedia.com to download the players.

Thanks though.

I figured out why the download works fine for me. I use the Save File To add-on, which adds a list of my favorite folders to the download prompt window. That means it takes me at most a couple of quick clicks to confirm the download.

If I manually browse to a download folder, that takes too long and the download page changes in the background to the Thank You page. If that happens, no file is downloaded after selecting the download folder.

If you're interested in the technical details, this the bug report to watch.

  • Bug 918000 - Cannot download new version of iTunes from the Apple website

Either that or the one it depends on.

  • Bug 673366 - me.com file download fails when "Always ask me where to save files" is enabled

Please keep in mind that Bugzilla is not a support forum.

If you have selected "Always ask me where to save files" in Tools | Options | General | Downloads, try changing this setting back to "Save files to" and browse to the location where you'd like to save the file.

This suggestion to choose a specific folder for download was posted in the thread Firefox cannot download iTunes update and it's the only workaround (other than using IE for my download) I've found that works for me.

Currently using FF 29.0.1 with 32-bit iTunes 11.2.2 for Windows
