I have a pop-up which comes onto my screen telling me that my Firefox is not current and to please update. I updated my Firefox to 23, problem persists

About a week ago, a new pop-up presented itself telling me that my Firefox was not the most current. At that time i was on Firefox 22. I tried deleting the pop-up (commanding the X option) and it only took me to another screen which asked me to install a new Firefox. The next time i went to the "Download" option but decided to cancel because of my general fear of pop-ups and their source. So i exited the program and then reentered to Firefox directly. Updated to Firefox 23 expecting that the problem would go away. After rebooting my machine, i again entered Firefox 23 and whoa, again i was faced with this pop-up saying that my system was not current with the same results as i had had before. IT IS MOST IRRATATING and even though i have checked my Firefox options of "BLOCKING POP-UPS" it persists. HOW do i to delete this problem? Below you will find a copy of the command code i found in the POP-UP. Maybe that will help you resolve the problem.

Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.
