So... I used Firefox and Chrome. After updating my Firefox, then downgrading it again (I use 3.6 version... and yes, it's old, but it still works for me), my Firefox began to have... issues.

http://tinypic.com/r/4hfxc1/6 As you can see, whenever I type in a letter, Firefox provides a drop-down menu of clickable bits.

http://tinypic.com/r/35lrwus/6 However, when I click on "Aywas", or some of my games/Apps for Facebook, the search bar stays on that letter (instead of the url for the site), and instead going to the page shown in the screenshot.

So far, this has been happening only with Aywas (a site I play on) and Facebook games. Everything else seems fine. So how can I fix this? (and no, DO NOT suggest that I switch to Version 12)

Well, fortunately, changing the look of Firefox 12 to appear exactly like Firefox 3.6 is really easy. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/926330 is a user who updated to 12 and changed it to look like 3.6, and most the tools used to do it.

Firefox 12 is an improved version of Firefox 3.6. There is alot more to Firefox than just the look and feel of it ;) Basically, with Firefox 4, we added new Javascript engines to speed up Javascript heavy websites, hardware acceleration, new rendering improvements, support for a TON of new web standards, a new interface (which you can always customize) and a ton of other new features. http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/4.0/releasenotes/ is the features introduced in just Firefox 4. Ever since then, every version of Firefox has improved on Firefox 4, bringing new speed improvements, reducing memory usage, new web standards support, and a bunch of other new stuff. Firefox development has always phased out an old version once a new one was brought on (Firefox 3 replaced Firefox 2, 3.5 replaced 3, 3.6 replaced 3.5, 4 replaced 3.6, etc).

Using 3.6 anymore is just unsafe, plus you can't take advantage of the modern web (being stuck using a 2+ year old browser), you can use modern websites as fast or as smoothly as they are meant to be used. I'd be more than happy to help you upgrade if you need to :)

As for your other problem, I'll try to look into that and see if I can't help you out.

Well, I do have to tell you, upgrade to Firefox 12. 3.6 is no longer supported, and no longer receives any updates whatsoever (security or otherwise). It is vulnerable to many known security holes that are only fixed in Firefox 12.

Is there a specific reason you don't want to upgrade to 12? (the look of the program for example)? I can help you resolve any issues so then you can upgrade and enjoy the speed and security of the newest versions.

The look of the program is one, plus I don't understand why they couldn't simply improve upon the earlier versions instead of moving on to a new version.

Plus, I already downloaded 12 and encountered a problem: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/927550

Well, I ended up solving the first problem I had (the one I linked to in my first reply to Tylerdowner). However, i still have the problem mentioned in the original post of this thread... PLUS: One thing I did like about Firefox 3.6 is that it would ask to save tabs the next time I started Firefox. How do I get that feature back?

If I understand you correctly, the issue in this thread does not happen in Firefox 12? Why don't you just upgrade, change the UI and take care of it that way?

Caved in and upgraded, and did the whole safe search/weeding out addons thing, and that solved it.

Thanks!
