I am unhappy with being slapped in the face every 7-9 days with the statement; "Firefox has been updated! Restart Now or Restart Later". You are very quickly catching up to Adobe and iTunes for frequency of updates. In my opinion as an average computer user, I find this very, very irritating.

If there are problems with updating or with the permissions then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.

Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the disk image (dmg) file to the desktop

  • Trash the current Firefox application to do a clean (re-)install
  • Install the new version that you have downloaded

Your profile data is stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder, so you won't lose your bookmarks and other personal data.

I didn't ask HOW to update. I am stating that they occur far too frequently. Release an update when you fix something important otherwise save it until something security related is included. Great software like Firefox should have no more than 2 updates per year. Crappy software is updated every week due to its crappy nature.
