Why doesn't Firefox remember my tabs from a previous session anymore??

When Firefox has closed unexpectedly or after updating to latest version, etc? It doesn't even ask me to restore tabs from previous session anymore upon start-up. Under History, the restore previous session option isn't even highlighted??? What is going on??

Make sure that you do not run Firefox in permanent Private Browsing mode.

  • You enter Private Browsing mode if you select: Tools > Options > Privacy > History: Firefox will: "Never Remember History"
  • To see all History and Cookie settings, choose: Tools > Options > Privacy, choose the setting Firefox will: Use custom settings for history
  • Deselect: [ ] "Permanent Private Browsing mode"

Nope! I checked and Permanent Private Browsing Mode was not selected. I have no clue what has happened, but it has been doing this now for a couple of weeks. It won't auto-fill anymore either??

You can check if session restore is enabled.

Is a file sessionstore.js created if you use this startup setting?

  • Tools > Options > General > Startup: "When Firefox Starts": "Show my windows and tabs from last time"
