No matter how many times I reorganize my bookmarks, Firefox keeps messing them up. I don't know what to do, please help me!

I noticed a couple days ago that one of my bookmark folders was out of order, which was odd, so I spent some time to reorganize it. When I was finished I thought that was the end of the problem. I was very wrong. The next day I noticed the same folder was pretty much in order, except for three bookmarks in the middle that belonged at the bottom of the folder. After I moved them, they didn't end up at the bottom of the folder, but instead, five bookmarks up from the bottom. I then tried moving the three bookmarks one by one. That was a mistake. Instead of ending up where I intended them to be, every time I moved one, it would end up in a space a couple of bookmarks away. I thought I could work around this problem, but over time this caused other bookmarks to get out of order, and pretty soon that folder became a complete mess and there was nothing I could do about it. Fearing the total collapse of order among my bookmarks and their respective folders, I really want to correct these rebellious bookmarks. Although, I don't know how to fix this and would really appreciate it if someone could tell/show me how.

Also, I heard that it may be Firefox Sync that was at fault so I disconnected it. When nothing changed, I uninstalled it. However, the problem still exists.

Thank you so much! I didn't think the first page would help me because I could still add, delete and edit my bookmarks, then restart the browser and it would've saved the changes. Also, I didn't think the second page would help me because my browser didn't have any of the symptoms listed. The problem I had wasn't with adding, deleting, or editing the bookmarks. I simply couldn't organize my bookmarks in a certain folder because the bookmarks would jump around when I tried to move them. However, I looked down the second link's page and found a section titled "Problems limited to bookmarks". I did what the first sentence told me to and it allowed me to FINALLY organize that folder! Thanks again!

For anyone else with the same problem, try creating a new bookmark backup file by going to Bookmarks, Organize Bookmarks, Import and Backup, Backup and then restore the new backup.
