With the latest update, my Win 7 Dell laptop hangs every time I exit Firefox. All I can do is log out and log back in to correct it. There is just a spinning icon that never goes away and I can't access the Windows menu. I'm submitting this from another machine so I don't have to deal with the issue.

Use one of these to close Firefox if you are currently doing that by clicking the close X on the Firefox Title bar, especially if you have multiple windows open to prevent losing tabs in unnoticed windows.

  • "3-bar" menu button -> Exit (Power button)
  • Windows: File -> Exit
  • Mac: Firefox -> Quit Firefox
  • Linux: File -> Quit

No luck. Even if I go to task manager and kill Firefox (because it still seems to be running after closing the browser) there is still something hanging the system, and I still get the spinning icon that never goes away. This only happened after the 106 update.....after more checking, I discover that as soon as I open Firefox the spinning icon starts immediately in the background. I saw this after minimizing Firefox. Then I get a message that Windows Explorer is not responding. If I pick the option to close the program, then the spinning icon goes away and Firefox closes with no issues. Is 106.0.2 starting a process that Windows doesn't respond to correctly?

You should run Autorun from MS to see what's staring when your computer boots up and Process Explorer for a deeper dive into what's running and by who. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/downloads/autoruns https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/downloads/process-explorer
