Account setup: Unable to log in at server. Probably wrong configuration, username or password
My PC died last week and I now have it back with a new hard drive (SSD). It's running Windows 10 and so far I have installed Firefox and Kaspersky Total Security, all of which I used previously. I have now installed Thunderbird but am unable to access my account. The password and configuration settings have been triple checked. Any suggestions re what I can try next please?

I contacted Sky and the rep confirmed that there isn't a combination which works. Instead he set up a one-off password for me, which worked. So I have now set up TB, copied my folders of saved messages across, and have started a big catch up! Many thanks for your assistance.

What error messages are you seeing? Please post screenshot of server settings for input and output. Thanks.
How do I take a screen shot please?
Screenshot by using a Windows program called "Snip & Sketch". It's a Windows installed program, so you should already have it.
I have never heard of this and it isn't on my PC. Rerhaps it doesn't ship with the UK version of Windows. I think there is a keyboard combination but can't remember what it is...
There is a nice free utility at bluefive dot pair dot com
Excellent, thanks. Screenshot is your default POP3 setting:
file not uploading and no option to escape, so posting this reply and will try again
Success !
Try setting outgoing server to port 587 and STARTTLS and let me know.
Afraid not, gives same error message
i did a bit of experimenting and I couldn't find any combination of server ids and ports that would work. TB kept forcing a different server name and then wouldn't connect. Maybe the host site can advise of specifics for the account. NOTE: Please change password, of what you posted is the real one.

I'm glad to have assisted. More and more email providers are setting up these secure access codes. Take care. And thanks for the kind words.
