Clearing cookies (manage data) always breaks Firefox.

FF 80.0.1

Not sure when it started, but it has been happening for a LONG, long time. I clear data (cache) with a check mark, but clear cookies manually. It always - and I mean *always* goes into *FF not responding* and takes up to a couple of minutes to clear. Often, I have to press clear Save Changes several times.

The only time it goes quickly and without stopping (Not Responding) is if I clear a dozen cookies or less.

Is there a solution?

Thank you.

You can leave services.sync.prefs.sync.network.cookie (this is about syncing the actual network.cookie pref) and set the two network.cookie prefs to true. If necessary then create cookie allow exceptions to keep specific third-party cookies (use "Delete cookies and site data when Firefox is closed" to keep cookies with an allow exception).

If clearing cookies didn't help then it is possible that the cookies.sqlite file that stores the cookies got corrupted.

Rename (or delete) cookies.sqlite (cookies.sqlite.old) and delete other present cookies files like cookies.sqlite-journal in the Firefox profile folder in case the file cookies.sqlite got corrupted. http://kb.mozillazine.org/Cookies

If clearing cookies doesn't help -what?

They always clear, but I always have to wait for *Firefox is not responding* - to respond.

Thank you.

Did you try what I posted?

You didn't answer my question, so I didn't want to do something that was unnecessary.

Thank you.

How many cookies is this about (what is the total and how many do you try to clear) ?

Note that you can limit third-party cookies and possibly make them session cookies via about:config.

You can set network.cookie.thirdparty pref to on the about:config page to make third-party cookies behave as session cookies that expire when Firefox is closed.

In quantity or in MB? I clear almost all.

Limiting third-party cookies would be helpful.

network.cookie.thirdparty.nonsecureSessionOnly false network.cookie.thirdparty.sessionOnly false services.sync.prefs.sync.network.cookie.thirdparty.sessionOnly - true.

What should I do with the above settings?

Thank you.
