After changing my college email password, Thunderbird does not connect. My Mac Mail works, my iPhone Mail works, I can get access via a browser and gmail.

I have to change my college email password every six months. The college contracts with Google to provide email. I changed the password. I can still get access via Mac Mail on desktop, laptop and iPhone, but not via Thunderbird. I get this message on Thunderbird: "Unable to log in at server. Probably wrong configuration, username, or password." The password and username are correct. I've verified them many times trying to gain access. The configuration is the same as it was before the password change when I had access via Thunderbird. Something changed but I have no idea how to find it.

Open Preferences/Security/Passwords/Saved Passwords, delete all the entries for the account, restart TB, and enter the new password when prompted. Set the authentication to OAuth2 in Server Settings as the simplest way to connect to the account, if it isn't already.
