The format is gray on black screen. I only have my email=linmann@nntc.net, inbox, trash. Then Local folders which includes: Sent, Trash, and Outbox. I had about 20-30 folders all holding necessary emails. They are all gone. My address book has folders for All Address Books, Personal Address Book, Collected Address but they are all empty. This is not ACCEPTABLE. I can see that you downloaded Mozilla Maintenance Service on 9/11/19 size=600 KB version 68.0 and Mozilla Thunderbird 68.0 (x64 en-US) on 9/11/19 size=169MB version 68.0 ; so this must be the cause of the changes. I don't like them and I want them to go away and let me return to Mozilla Thunderbird 60.9.0 (x86 en-US) that was downloaded on 9/6/19 size=125MB version 60.9.0. and worked just GREAT!!! What do I have to do to get my email addresses and files back in working order?? I appreciate that this is a free program but it's not worth it to have this kind of MESS!!

Uninstall TB 68 (won't affect the profile folder), and download and run the installer for 60.9:

https://archive.mozilla.org/pub/thunderbird/releases/60.9.0/win32/en-US/

Check that you don't have some kind of 3rd-party software updater, e.g. Kaspersky, updating to 68.

Thank you so much!!! It worked GREAT and I now have my folders/emails and address books back to what I had before this TERRIBLE UPDATE!! Also, I have my nice White Screen with black text!! My World is JUST SO WONDERFUL NOW!! Glad to know Mozilla Support is there to help. They were very prompt too. Linda

It's pretty clear the user must have some software installed that caused Thunderbird to be update to version 68, because we do NOT have updates enabled within Thunderbird itself.

sfhowes, what do you think caused this issue? Perhaps the user was original using 32bit Thunderbird and update software downloaded and changed the user to 64bit? (I haven't tested that scenario yet myself)

If auto updates from 60 haven't been activated for anyone, it's a mystery to me how it happened involuntarily. Maybe in the case of some Linux versions the repository has pushed TB 68 to users who have auto update enabled. But for Windows users, as in this case, I can't think of any reason beside the one I suggested.

If a user installs via linux distro then updates are controlled by that distro, not us. But in this case on Windows something other than Thunderbird caused the update.

Can any of you help, please? I've installed 68, and lost my address book. So, I exported it from 60 as per instructions, and it now resides in my Downloads file, with all my addresses clearly listed. Then I tried to import it into 68, following the instructions. Now in 68 I have an extra Address Book, but nothing in it! In fact I tried twice, so now have two blank address books in 68.

Any ideas?

Edit: Windows 10. I've tried changing the name of the address book from Personal Address Book to My Address Book, but still absolutely blank.
