My bookmark folders disappeared after upgrading to Ver. 60.2.0esr although exporting them still looks OK.

I have been using multi-level bookmark folders with a lot of URLs for awhile and they worked fine. Upon upgraded to Firefox Ver. 60.2.0esr (32-bit) yesterday, however, I can not find where they are any more. Basically, I have no idea what is the new entry point to these folders from the new basic FireFox screen. Since I have been saving HTML backup files regularly, I tried to follow that procedure to make a new backup and it did get saved to my H/D with the content organized like all the earlier ones. I tried to import one of the earlier backups. It seemed to work. Yet, I could not find where did it go afterwards. I do find some single level / linear listings of many URLs of sites that I visited previously under "Other Bookmarks". Most of them were a long time ago (I can even remember the subject.). Although I spotted some that are fairly recent (within the past month). But, surprisingly, one has triple identical entries. This is very puzzling. Please provide some guidance. Thanks a lot,

Hi Abe, if you imported an HTML bookmarks file, it may be in its own folder at the bottom of the Bookmarks Menu called something like Imported Bookmarks or possibly under Other Bookmarks. If you are discovering duplicates, that might be where you can find them.

Hi Abe, where do you normally find your bookmarks?

Bookmarks Menu

By default, Firefox on Windows hides the classic top menu bar (File, Edit, View...). If you tap the Alt key to show the bar temporarily and check Bookmarks, does it seem to have what you're missing?

Firefox 60 has anoptional bookmarks menu button () that works the same way as the old bookmarks menu button (the "right-half" of the inseparable star+book duo). To add that button, either:

(A) Use the Customize panel (Customize Firefox controls, buttons and toolbars) to drag the icon to the desired spot on the toolbar

(B) Use the method from Bookmarks in Firefox - section entitled: How do I add the Bookmarks Menu button to the toolbar?

  • Click the "Library" button:
  • Click "Bookmarks"
  • Click "Bookmarking Tools"
  • Click "Add Bookmarks Menu to Toolbar"

Bookmarks Toolbar

To turn different bars on and off, you can use one of these methods to show the toolbar list and select the desired bars there:

  • right-click (on Mac Ctrl+click) a blank spot on the tab bar (or the "+" button)
  • (menu bar) View > Toolbars
On Windows, tap the Alt key to activate the menu bar temporarily.
  • in Customize mode > Toolbars button (see: Customize Firefox controls, buttons and toolbars)

To turn on the Bookmarks Toolbar, Menu Bar, or other bars, click it on the list.

Are we getting anywhere?

Hi, is the a folder on the desktop called OldFirefoxData  ?

Have you been into the 3 Bar Menu then Customize ?

Not to sure on what you need to know from the difference between versions.

https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/bookmark-dupes/ Might be useful to get rid of the duplicates.
