How can i remove FVD speed dial "Stuff" from the address bar?

Since the upgrade to Firefox quantum, FVD speed dial includes its name and an "URL" of sorts in the address bar on start up, this just really annoys me as you have to have to remove it before entering a URL etc. Does anyone know of a way to remove this so that the address bar is blank but at the same time keeping FVD speed dial? Many Thanks Chris

Basically hoping to remove everything in the address bars as per the screen shot if this is possible?

Go to about:addons and remove the offending extension.

Any way i can just remove it displaying without removing the extension? i really like the speed dial extension. And i am assuming i will have similar problems with other extensions

I can't think of a way to make Firefox clear the address automatically. But when you click the address bar or select it using a keyboard shortcut like F6 or Ctrl+L, Firefox should select the entire text automatically so you can either replace it with anything you type or delete it.
