How do I reduce screen size image; not all fits.

Thank you very sincerely!! I am a complete incompetent using computers!! I returned from a trip and had shut down my LENOVO using Windows 10. Upon my return, when I started my computer, I could barely see the top of the icons at he bottom and when I clicked on email, the left side of the writing was off the screen, I can't seem to learn how to reduce the image size so everything will fit and be legible.
