inline image removed when email sent

I type an email in HTML, insert an inline image which appears fine -- until I send the email. The image is removed leaving only the placemarker. How to fix this?

Is the image on your local hard disk, or a remote web server?

I for instance tried to insert images into a web page from my google drive and they did not appear.
