As you mention a POP mail account, did you create a backup of your profile name folder prior to doing 'System Restore' ? Your computer would be the only source of pop mail unless you selected to keep copies on server, so it would be usual to periodically perform backups especially if you are doing something rather radical like 'Formatting Harddrive, reinstalling OS, upgrading OS, System Restore'.
check what you can currently see in the Thunderbird Profile folder. Make hidden files and folders visible:
What do you see in this location: C:\Users\<Windows user name>\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\<Profile name>\ what is in the 'Profiles' folder? How many 'profile names' do you see? 'Profile name' is by default called 'xxxxxxxx.default' where x's are letters and numbers. Open each profile name folder in turn and do the following: Click on 'Mail' Do you see mail accounts? If yes, Click on mail account name and you should see 'Inbox' (no extension) You can open 'Inbox' file using Notepad. Emails are written to the file one after the other in the order downloaded. Do you see any emails in any mail account in any Profile name folder ?
If you cannot see any sign of emails, you may need to try a data recovery program to try and recover the files.
