I want to delete all the contacts that came over when I opened the new account today. They are irrelevant and not current at all.

I don't know how you got any contacts when opening a new email account. Email doesn't ordinarily include Address Books. I think you need to provide a bit more detail on what you did.

I don't know how or why they are there. I only know they are there and the delete function is not working! Please look at it yourself and help me fix it! Is there a number I can call to speak to a live person? I don have time for all this back and forth. I need this fixed today. This is my business email and I really need it fixed ASAP.

You have chosen to use a Free product and this forum is also Free. The people who offer assistance, do so in their own Free time as volunteers. There is no number to call and volunteers do not access other peoples computers. regarding I don have time for all this back and forth. I need this fixed today. - You have to put some effort into resolving it if using this forum.

You neglected to mention what OS you are using, so I'm going to guess that you have a MAC and you selected to import the MAC address book.

If yes, Thunderbird's access to the native OSX address book is read-only. You would have to access the MAC address book directly - (not via Thunderbird) and edit it as required.
