Confirm settings here: right click on mail account name in left Folder Pane and select 'Settings' Account name = full email address - check for typos, commas instead of full stops, etc Email address : = full email address. Check for typos; commas instead of full stops; blank spaces at the start/end, which could hidden.

click on 'Server Settings' User Name = Full email address - check typos etc again click on OK

What does "I set up a new email address" mean? With whom? Does it work via the email provider's webmail site?

I have two existing email address' with mozilla thunderbird. The new one that I'm trying to get to work keeps getting rejected saying the email address (booking@jdftributeartists.com) is not valid. This is stated when I try to receive incoming email to this address.

You may have missed the second question in Zenos' reply, which is crucial: Does it work via the email provider's webmail site? Thunderbird does not provide an email service, it's just an email client. The service that transmits your mail from one computer to another around the world is provided by a company -- it might be your ISP or it might be a specialist email provider. All that Thunderbird can do (all that any client software can do) is to get your messages from the providing company's server. What is happening at the moment is that when Thunderbird tries to do this, it receives a message from the server saying that the address isn't valid. So you need to log in to your account via the company's website (not via Thunderbird) to check that it's working OK. This is especially important when it's a new account. Very often you have to log in to validate a new account before client software can get your messages; some providers require you to adjust the account settings as well.

The account is set up but I cannot receive emails. I already have two other working email address' (with Thunderbird) The servers are all tied to each other but the new address doesn't receive (it sends fine) ALSO, I wanted to attach a wisestamp signature to the new email address but I can't do that. Is it possible because I already am using two? Thanks.

Can someone help me with finding out why I can't receive messages to booking@jdftributeartists.com?? My other two email address' work fine with the same mail server. Thanks.

Getting error message "outgoing server failed" I'm using pop.gmail.com for server. Outgoing server is 465 ssl port. EVERYTHING I've tried and it still won't send/receive mail. Help! Thanks.

If you cannot send nor receive it may be due to your Anti-Virus / Firewall software blocking Thunderbird. So check this out.

Close Thunderbird. Access the Firewall and set Thunderbird to 'Allow'. Restart Thunderbird.

Just tried that, still doesn't work. "sending password failed". pop.gmail.com responded: Web login required: https://support.google.com/mail/answer/78754...tried EVERYTHING with this link. thank you!!

I'm a bit confused :) quote : why I can't receive messages to booking@jdftributeartists.com

but now you are talking about pop.gmail.com not sending or receiving which is something entirely different.

Please confirm: Can you access the webmail account for booking@jdftributeartists.com using a browser? If yes, then you know that the password you used to access webmail is the one you should be using in Thunderbird. Confirm the password will get you access to the webmail account.

OK, clarification: I have the POP account setup through gmail with the booking@jdftributeartists.com address. Mail is setup to forward to Thunderbird where I have other business accounts all in one place. My other two accounts go through websiteforge then forward to Thunderbird. This new account is set up through our new website. It intially worked fine then something happened, I got the error message (from ThunBird) sending of password did not succeed and the pop mail server 78754 message. I cannot sent or receive from ThunBird. When you say using a browser do you mean just logging into the gmail account? I can receive/send messages from the gmail account. The pw's are the same. Thanks again..

what should the outgoing server be set to? Error message: Sending of the message failed. The message could not be sent using Outgoing server (SMTP) smtp.gmail.com for an unknown reason. Please verify that your Outgoing server (SMTP) settings are correct and try again

This also was emailed to the gmail account:

Hi jon, Someone just tried to sign in to your Google Account booking@jdftributeartists.com from an app that doesn't meet modern security standards. Details: Wednesday, May 4, 2016 8:16 PM (Eastern Daylight Time) New Jersey, USA*

'Two step verfication' is used when using more than one device to access account eg: phone and computer. 'Less secure apps' when only using computer.

However, there is another option for Outgoing Server SMTP. Thunderbird has the ability to use OAuth2 developed to work with Gmail. This is what gmail call the most secure. (IMAP accounts can use it for incoming and outgoing.)

Currently say you are using: Outgoing server is 465 ssl port But it is unknown what 'Authentication Method' you are using. If you had posted the 'copy text to clipboard' information as requested then I would know.

Tools > Account Settings > Outgoing server (SMTP) select the gmail outgoing server. click on 'Edit' Check details:

  • Description: anything you want eg: Google Mail
  • Server name: smtp.gmail.com
  • Port : 465
  • Connection Security: SSL/TLS
  • Authentication Method: OAuth2
  • User Name = full gmail address.

When the password is sent, google will ask you to login in using a browser to confirm it is you. Then an OAuth2 password - long numbers - will be added to the list of saved passwords and will be used for accessing server when you send from then onwards.

Is there a reason you are receiving/ sending everything via gmail ?

You could easily have set up a mail account for email address jdftributeartists.com to directly download and send using it's own server settings directly from the mail account. Then you are not waiting for the emails to be forwarded to gmail before you can access them.

Have you tried to create and use an outgoing smtp server to allow you to send using the jdftributeartists.com server settings?

Hello again, Going straight to your question "Is there a reason you are receiving/sending everything via gmail"? Yes, this email address is tied to a new website by Wix. I used their email application because it was less money than websiteforge which we have the other two business email address' (with Thunderbird on the front end). when you say "It's own server", what does that mean? Would this be created in the Thunderbird application? Could I transfer my other 2 email address' as well? I really don't need the gmail account if this can be done directly with ThunB. What exactly do I need to do? I'm sorry for my unsavvyness regarding this. Thanks again.

I changed the outgoing to the method above and still get this error: "Sending of password for user booking@jdftributeartists.com did not succeed. Mail server pop.gmail.com responded: Web login required: https://support.google.com/mail/answer/78754" Please help, thanks.

This just came in to the Google email:

Hi jon, Someone just tried to sign in to your Google Account booking@jdftributeartists.com from an app that doesn't meet modern security standards. Details: Wednesday, May 11, 2016 11:48 AM (Eastern Daylight Time) New Jersey, USA* We strongly recommend that you use a secure app, like Gmail, to access your account. All apps made by Google meet these security standards. Using a less secure app, on the other hand, could leave your account vulnerable. Learn more.

Google stopped this sign-in attempt, but you should review your recently used devices:

As you are using POP, have you logged on to webmail account and selected to use 'Less secure apps' ?

Yes to POP, this is what I get when I clicked the Less secure apps link: This setting is managed by your domain administrator.
