how do I transfer my optonline emails to Thunderbird?

I downloaded Firefox in my new laptop. I also downloaded Thunderbird, however, I am unable to successfully transfer my 3 optonline email addresses to the new computer. I put the pw in and it won't accept, then asks me for a new PW, so I make up a new PW and still won't accept..HELP!
