Insert HTML
What happened to feature that allowed insert HTML into the message body and who thought it was a great idea to remove it? More importantly, now that it is gone...how do I?

In order to compose in HTML: Tools (Alt-T) - Account Settings - Composition & Addressing Check 'Compose messages in HTML format'.
When you open a Write window do you have the Insert option on the toolbar at all? If not you are composing in Plain Text and not HTML.
Hold the shift key when clicking the Write button and see if the option appears. Shift toggles between Text and HTML.
If you have set up to compose in Plain Text then it would have been you that decided to eliminate this option.
There has always been the ability to 'insert' HTML into the message body. This is with text/html toggled 'on' - That menu option is no longer available.

And there still is. If you are composing an HTML message and not a Plain Text message.
Safe Mode - restore corrected the situation.
