After drag and drop of message to a folder; Ctrl-Z (undo) causes message to comepletly disappear.

Dragged message from Inbox to the wrong folder. Typed Ctrl-Z to undo move message. The message disappeared. It is not in Trash, Junk, Inbox or the folder it was dragged to. This has happened before, so I am trying to find a solution before an important message is lost. Thanks.
