How do I change a subfolder to a "main" folder under Local Folders?

My approach would be to make a new folder in the required place, go to the "wrong" folder, select its contents, use right-click|Move to… to shift the contents to the proper folder.
Some have success with drag-and-drop to move folders and their contents. Since this functionality in Thunderbird isn't well documented, I prefer to avoid it.
Is it possible you accidentally drag-and-dropped it to its current location?
