Mail recipient address getting replaced from pulldown inappropriately
I'm using Thunderbird 31.5.0. I start typing an address in the "To" field, then a suggested address gets displayed in the "To" field, and a pulldown of alternatives gets displayed. That's great, & how it should be working. Unfortunately if the cursor goes across the pulldown list on its way down to start typing the email subject or text, one of the options gets selected - which probably happened before, to be fair. What's new, though, and causing real problems, is that the accidentally selected option is now automatically replacing what was in the "To" field, rather than only doing this if I clicked on that option. This is a usability nightmare, as it means I keep sending to the wrong addressee. If I can't get this fixed quickly I'll have to sawitch to a different email program - & I've been using Thunderbird for a long time. Help please!

The address book and the auto suggestion method has been broken since version 31 was issued. Can it be fixed quickly? It does not look like it. They are already on version 31.5 and it is still broken.
I have learned my lesson by working this forum and never upgrade until the dust settles on a new major version. This version is still mud and is not even getting to the dust stage yet. I am using version 24.6 and will continue until they fix a few things.
Here are the old versions if interested in going back to a working version. http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/thunderbird/releases/
