I asked a site manager how to delete previous search strings. They said that the browser provides the suggested strings. How do I delete them?

You type in "about:config" in your address bar. Skip the warning and type "suggest" in the search bar. Change the value by doubble clicking to "false".

Installed Plug-ins

Garmin Communicator Plug-In 4.0.4.0 Garmin Communicator Plug-In 4.1.0.0

Having more than one version of a program may cause issues.

DO NOT fool around in the about:config unless you know what you are doing  ! ! !

When a suggestion you don't like comes up . . . . . STOP ! ! Using the arrow keys, highlight that entry, then press Delete.

FredMcD is right with his warning to not fool around in the about:config. Never the less this is the only way to achieve what you wanted to (as far as i know). As long as you really take care of every single click you make in the about:config, follow the instrucion and leave it right afterwards, you should be fine.

Are you talking about search history?

If so, you can clear search history in two places.

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/clear-recent-searches-search-bar https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/delete-browsing-search-download-history-firefox = for "form and search history"

Try the first, and if that doesn't get rid of what's bugging you, do the second.

Thanks for all your replies. I tried all of them and they didn't solve the problem. I think that the site managers either didn't understand my description of the problem or didn't know how to fix it and tried to put the blame on Mozilla. I'm going to contact them again and knock a little harder this time.

@FredMcD: thanks for pointing out the Garmin problem. I disabled one of them.

Do not disable old software. Remove it. Sometimes, you will have to re-install the current program.

What suggestions and where do you want to remove them?

Could you give more details?
