I press not junk to mails incorrectly classified as junk and they have disappeared completely

I need to recover some mails that were in the junk folder and were not junk, I incorrectly assumed that by pressing the not junk button they would be transferred to the inbox, however they were not, please can anyone assist me in pointing me to the folder they would have been sent to.
