I am getting so irritated by Firefox update notifications interrupting my work and autmatic processes on MY computer. So much so that I regard this as an intrusion on my privacy and security. If necessary I will set up a web site to mount a campaign against this outrageous practice, which from reading some of the posts accessible I can see are also a source of concern to other users. Even in the best case where I could tolerate choosing a response "Ask later" providing that does not give Firefox carteblanche to ask me in 5 minutes. This is particulalrly irritating for me as I have my computer set up to perform automatic operations which then get sabotaged by these notification settings appearing frequently. I don't really want to have to chnage browser becasue I don't know if the others are any better. I require a clear answer from some of thse Mozilla staff on how I can kill these settings taking over my computer within 24 hours or I reserve the right to set up a campaign site to highlight this unacceptable behaviour on mozilla's part.

I would also advise Mozilla only IF they are interested in getting community support to streamline their web site so that users can more easily find out how to become members able to put questions, however uncomfortable for Mozillla. Very sincerely Brian Turner

You can provide feedback to Mozilla and the Firefox developers here: https://input.mozilla.org/en-US/feedback

Make sure that Use a background service to install updates is disabled, along with having Never check for updates ... selected in Options > Advanced -> Update.

hello brian, first off: i'm a volunteer and no mozilla staff.

secondly, i don't know what experiences you have made with support from other companies that you deem it necessary to start off a question with ultimatums and threats. i don't think this is the right way to approach a community consisting largely of contributors who will help other users in their free time!

thirdly, mozilla's product are open source and hugely adaptable - so even if you don't like the default settings, this won't mean that you are stuck with them. some settings for you to consider: http://kb.mozillazine.org/App.update.silent http://kb.mozillazine.org/App.update.idletime

Thank you. Ed-meister. I think your guidance may have solved the problem so far. At least no further notification. I did search the "knowledge base" but didn't find anything relevant, although a number of users were critical, but I saw no mention of your solution.

Thanks once again! britinswe

If you had lost 30 hours of work becasue of the constant nagging presence of these ridiculous notifications which you can postpone only by clicking "ask me later" and no other option e.g. 10 days. never again etc etc, you might sympathise with me.

Note please I used the word staff, hopefully there are some persons who receive a salary, I certainly don't expect volunteers to spend their valuable time on me. Though it does happen, possibly even in the case of ed-meister who provided me with a solution.

So I reject your points, and hopefully some other users will benefit from the above. Too often software companies get away with far too much viz Microsoft who still insist on providing a 100 updates that users should install only to receive 90% failure rates becasue Microsoft a're too lazy or unintellignt to understand they have to be installed in a specific order. So why don't they provide them in that order rather than forcing half their users to spend hours figuring out why they have blue screens. Without any compensation because they have batteries of lawyers to protect them against negligence.

And Microsoft again. Taken over Skype, wanted to update my Skype 45 minutes later still tryi ng to log in.

We need some user/consumer revolutions IMHO, so ultimatums and campaigns are or will be in my retirement the name of the game! Britinswe

Tried, but can not find where to post a new question so this is the closest I could find to my question so will post it here. Typed "notifications" in search box up top of this page and got nothing.

Today received from FF around 6 'notifications' about things I know nothing about. Have been inundated with these things over past week. Checked "My Profile" entirely and there are no boxes checked.

Please advise how I can stop these 'notifications' from being sent to me. Thank you.
