"go to task manager, then processes, then rt click on firefox process and from menu click on priorities. change normal to high close process. close task mgr. reboot. the firefox should work normally on shutdown...atleast mine is so far. note need to use system explorer as it lets you permanently set the priority to high. task manager will revert to normal after one use."

After reading and trying many supposed solutions to this problem with no permanent effect, I encountered this. It seems like the most promising work-around I've seen. Unfortunately, as he says, task manager does revert to "normal" after reboot, and I don't know what he means by System Explorer, or how to access it. Does anyone know the answer to this, and/or has anyone else found a different solution that really works?

From what I have been reading from other posts on this forum, the issue may be caused by the clear history settings. It was suppost to have been fixed in v30.

Press the <Alt> or <F10> key to bring up the tool bar. Followed by;

Windows; Tools > Options Linux; Edit > Preferences Mac; application name > Preferences

Then Privacy.

The button next to History, select Use Custom Settings.

At the bottom of the page, turn on Clear History When Firefox Closes. At the far right, press the Settings button. Turn on ONLY Cache and Form And Search History leaving the others off.

This is not a cure but will make it easier if Firefox locks up. https://support.mozilla.org/questions/997866?esab=a&s=&r=1&as=s {web link}

Have upgraded to 30.0. So far, the problem has not returned. Fingers crossed!
