I have a MacBook Pro. I run on Mavericks. I use FireFox 28, and will not upgrade, due to sensory issues of the new version.

Your "title" for this thread was cropped, so some of what you tried to post is gone.

If you are referring to the "flash rate" for the cursor in "text areas", that is something which is controlled by the Operating System, not the individual program that you are using. See Apple support for help with that issue.

Sorry, if I "misread" your problem, just a guess on my part.

OH ok, so ALL text cursors are controlled by the OS, regardless if it's online or in Word etc?

thanks for helping!! And yes, I'm wanting it to stop blinking.

Yep, Mac OSX needs to be fiddled with. Can't help you there, never used a Mac.

I have not used a Mac for many years but from a quick search I found this, I don't know if it helps (Mountain Lion 0SX 8)

Go to APPLE, SYSTEM PREFERENCES, SYSTEMS, ACCESSIBILITY, DISPLAY, and Viola ~ Second Slide is CURSOR SLIDE!

Thank you both!!!

John, that is so sweet, but that is the mouse cursor, not the text cursor. I will head to the Mac forum :) thanks again!!

Actually I just read this someplace.... but it gives no details on how to go about it.

go to: about:config

hen it says add a new line -- which I have no idea how to do.... but it said to add this:

ui.caretBlinkTime

and set the blinking to 0

Yep, still clueless. Anything to this?

That preference is for Caret Browsing, to navigate through the webpage via the keyboard; originally intended for debugging purposes. It is activated with the F7 key. http://kb.mozillazine.org/Accessibility.browsewithcaret

You could try using Caret Browsing and see it that is suitable for you, but it might affect other things??

edit: Whoops, forgot a link to - http://kb.mozillazine.org/About:config - to provide an explanation for accessing that preference.

Do you want to control the appearance of the cursor in a text area and have a stationary cursor instead of a blinking cursor?
