Firefox is updated to Australis but Mozilla sites say it still needs to be updated

Going to Help - About says Firefox is up to date. But whenever I open any Mozilla site, I am told to update Firefox. Any helpful hints?

By the way, I happen to love Australis. All my add-ons work fine, it is definitely faster and looks clean and lean. I use Classic Theme Restorer just to put the Status Bar/Add-on bar back on the bottom of the window. No problem, happy camper.

your useragent (the information the browser sends to websites to identify its version) is corrupted. probably some sort of addon ('masking-agent'?) has overwritten it. please refer to this article in order to reset the user-agent settings in firefox: How to reset the default user agent on Firefox

Hi puppycat,

Awesome! If I may ask, what page is this happening on? It should detect if you are up to date already. It looks like you have submitted this from a browser that is only on version 27. Do you have more than one installation of Firefox?

I think "masking-agent" is from this extension: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/masking-agent/

in my opinion using this addon is massively counter-productive - instead hiding amongst millions of users whose user agent says Windows/Linux/Mac OS X you'll identify yourself as one of only a few hundred users of this addon which will make it just easier to fingerprint you as you're moving around the web!

Yes, I have Masking Agent installed. I will use the workaround after I have supper. Thanks, philipp!

That workaround did the trick and I am grateful. Thanks!
