Why is Firefox opening a new tab when using command enter from the address bar?

Previously when using command enter from the address bar Firefox would add www. and .com to the given term and go to that website. Now it is opening a new tab and searching for the given term. How do I make Firefox go back to the previous behavior?

Note that the following setting/values that appear to be related

> browser.search.openintab;false > browser.urlbar.openintab;false

You need to use "Control + Enter" for the URL fixup and can no longer use "Command + Enter".
