My firefox use to run on about 100K memory but now its on ~500k all the time and its slowing down my browsing, how do i fix this?

when i go to task manager and look at processes, my firefox is using up a lot more then normal memory. I think this is slowing down my browsing and don't know what is causing it... its not like im loading videos or anything.. just browsing on forums etc and its still up that high...
