Lockwise in Firefox: Any way to lock Lockwise so that primary password must be re-entered?

more options

Is there a way to lock Lockwise (as part of Firefox on Linux) again after you entered the primary password so that it must be re-entered the next time a password is asked? Or is the primary password, once entered, always valid for the current session? I do not want to quit Firefox and open it again because than all tabs have to be reloaded. If this feature is missing, where is the issue tracker for Firefox/Lockwise so I can add this to the wishlist?

Thanks for your answers!

I know of one way, which I discovered accidentally, so in case no one comes up with a better answer...

On the Logins and Passwords page, the "eye" button and the Copy button next to any password requires reconfirmation of your primary password. If you click either of those buttons and cancel the dialog (I press Esc), Firefox re-locks your logins. For example, if you reload the Logins and Passwords page, you'll be required to enter the primary password again.

Of course, it would be better if there were some kind of "Re-Lock" button. I'm not sure where to suggest/request that, whether that is now managed in Bugzilla or is on a Github repo.

Thanks for the workaround! And "bugzilla" was the right keyword. This feature seems to be added in upcoming FF 86: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1680534 So let's wait and see.

Hmm, that doesn't sound like it would prevent automatically logging in on sites, so perhaps it is only part of the solution.

If you close and reopen Lockwise then you can click the eye icon to reveal the password and cancel the Primary Password prompt to logout.

You can manually log out in the Security Device manager.

  • Options/Preferences -> Privacy & Security -> Certificates -> Security Devices: Software Security Device: Log Out button in the right sidebar

Thanks so far! Is there a way to create a button, bookmarklet, etc. to do this "Options/Preferences -> Privacy & Security -> Certificates -> Security Devices: Software Security Device: Log Out" with one click?

I was a bit mistaken with the bug report I quoted above. This is the relevant one, which is not being worked on yet: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1692143
