Thunderbird updater does not work with any version, including after complete reinstall

As question https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1333063 was archived before a helpful reply was posted, this is a bump. @MattAuSupport asked about the signer of the aus.thunderbird.net website, I provided the signer details along with the fingerprint, and the thread went cold and got archived. Thunderbird will still not update automatically, Firefox has no problems.

Fixed by divine intervention. It has started working for no apparent reason.
