Using Firefox 57.0.2 I noticed that extension icons disappear each time I restart my brower. How can I fix it? Is that a bug or not?

Yes, they are :

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/norton-safe-web/

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/zenmate-vpn/

The extensions are still enabled, aren't they  ?

I can't find any reason why the icons mysteriously disappeared - hopefully somebody else will come up with an answer .......

Unless they are the new API Addons legacy Addons will not work.

I have new web-extension addons so I don't understand why they lose their icons. I think it's Firefox bug, but they just don't want to admit it.

Yes, you have the webextensions, fully compatible with Firefox 57+. Like I mentioned earlier : I have no idea why the icons in Add-ons => Extensions have disappeared, but the extensions are enabled, and you don't really need the icons there.

Do you have the icons on your toolbar  ?

Yes, they are there.

Well, that's good - you'll have no problem using the add-ons then.

The icons missing in Add-ons => Extensions : I haven't a clue why, but like I said before : you don't need the icons there for the add-ons to work.

But it doesn't resolve this issue anyway. I believe Mozilla should fix it.

First I have seen mention of that sort of problem. I wonder if it could be related to the localized versions of extensions; IOW, for your chosen language for Firefox and the UI.

I use Russian location in FF.

I haven't been able to find any explanation for the mysteriously disappearing icons in the Add-ons manager - sorry .......

If it really bothers you that much (and I can understand why it does), maybe you could go to the Add-ons Manager, and click on the 'Options' button. I don't have the same add-ons you have, but the one that I do have, shows a 'Help' option, and there's an option to send a bug report.

If your add-ons have that same option : maybe you could give that a try  ?

I can't find any "help" button there.

Bummer  !

I don't have your add-ons - so, I couldn't check to see if there was.

I can't think of anything else - sorry ......

Try to delete add-ons.json in the profile folder in case there is a problem with this file.

If this didn't work then rename/remove extensions.json and compatibility.ini and delete previously used extensions.* files if present like extensions.ini, extensions.sqlite in the Firefox profile folder with Firefox closed to reset the extensions registry.

New files will be created when required.

You can use the button on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page to go to the current Firefox profile folder or use the about:profiles page.

Second advise helped, so thanks. But after extension reinstallation/update this icons disappear again... Doing this things everytime after update is not the decision.

It is weird that these files get corrupted with every update and that the icons are lost.

What security software do you have?

If extensions.json was the problem then make a backup ans see if you can find out what goes wrong with this file. You can open extensions.json in a Firefox tab to be able to use the builtin Firefox JSON viewer for inspection.

I use Norton Security for some years. Never had any problems with extensions before.

Norton is not a issue. I use Norton yyself and am po'd toolbar does not work anymore. Norton Toolbar was downgraded and is Legacy now. but there are 2 Norton Extension here : https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/norton-safe-web/ https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/norton-identity-safe/

Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.
