Can not get emails from verizon.net (gmail OK) after March 18th, why?

I have an main account plus a sub account with with Verizon.net. Verizon is also my ISP. From these established accounts I can send emails but can no longer get emails from the Verizon server to Thunderbird. This seems to had happened since March 18th. I can send and receive through Gmail. Verizon support says the settings seem to be correct but they have no explanation as to not it doesn't work. They gave up. Any ideas?
