I never want my emails automatically deleted.
I thought I had configured it correctly, but they disappear. Is there a way to tell Thunderbird to never deleted emails that are stored in individual folders?

If your account is IMAP then the answer is an unequivocal no. IMAP is synchronized to the mail server so replicates any change from the server.
If your account is POP than the answer is an unequivocal yes. Thunderbird settings are inviolate, unless you anti virus decides the folder is a "threat" and deletes it's contents or some other computing mishaps like a disk failure looses your mail.
My account is IMAP. Is it possible for me to change to a POP account?
