The last available upgrade for Firefox came out a little under a month ago, did you just update recently? If so, that is ok too. In order to troubleshoot this can you please try the following:

  1. Use Troubleshoot Mode in Firefox
  2. It could be multiple tabs taking up memory, does this happen with multiple gdocs open? Does it happen on one doc? if so try Google support.

If it continues in Safe Mode, we know its not an add on or changed preference in Firefox.
