It seems that ever since my Thunderbird auto-updated to 128.5.1, sending messages with attachments is VERY slow. I just sent a client an email with a 6.9 MB attachment and it took over 2 minutes to send. A few weeks ago, that would have gotten sent in seconds. I tried cleaning out my Inbox and Sent box by moving most of the messages to local folders, but no change. Any thoughts? Anyone else having this issue?

I use Thunderbird 128.2.0esr (64-bit) to read mail from the Outlook server; these are the folder mappings:

I used to also be able to read the Junk Email folder from the Ourlook server the same way, but the folder disappeared from my Thunderbird a couple of months ago. I tried re-adding it as a sub-folder, which is how I created it in the first place, but it won't appear on the list.

I'm not sure what else to do here. I don't know where the Thunderbird directories are stored locally any more, I'm using Ubintu 24.04.

long term user here, thanks a lot for your awesome software, absolute essential live-saver.

A few days ago, I did the update to 128.1.0esr (64-Bit) from 115 on win11. Very smooth transition, no issues with my 4 accounts, calendars etc. Great experience.

However, since the update, QuickSearch Ctrl-Shift-K filter that did instanteaneous filters on my 25k mailfolders came to griniding halt.

What happend: - Type a search term with filters on 'subject', 'from' 'to'activate freezes the app for many wall-clock seconds (5-10). Switching to another app and switching back gives me a Windows (Thunderbird not Responsive) in the title bar of the main window during that time.

What I expected: - almost instantaneus filter without noticable lag

What I tried: - deactivate, then uninstall expression search addon incompatible with 128 - restart in Troubleshoot mode with all addons disabled - reboot OS (Win11) several times - searched forums and stackoverflow for similar issues using different search term approaches and combinations

Copying message file in Local Folders

If I copy a message file of Local Folders from the Thunderbird profile on one computer to the corresponding path on another computer, will Thunderbird process it correctl… (ďalšie informácie)

If I copy a message file of Local Folders from the Thunderbird profile on one computer to the corresponding path on another computer, will Thunderbird process it correctly?

I see my e-mails in Local Folders are stored in this file, /home/norio/.thunderbird/<random>.default-release/Mail/Local\ Folders/<subfolder_name>.sbd/Inbox If I copy this file to the same path (except rewriting <random> string) on another computer by OS's commands (like cp and rsync), will the messages show up in Thunderbird on the destination computer?

I see many back-up and recovery articles that instructs the users to copy the entire profile directory and copy it to the new computer. I wonder if I can copy only a message file, so that I don't have to overwrite the entire settings and messages on the destination computer.

changed tools/account settings/local folders to point to another disk drive (D:) in Windows 11. (C: was 95% full) copied /user/appdata/thunderbird/Local/Profiles to D: changed Local to point to D: for local and restarted TB. All files in Local (87GB worth) was corrupted and unreadable. Tried restoring all of TB under user/appdata/Thunderbird/local/profiles and switched back to my user... pointer for original profiles. Still corrupted. Restored /user/appdata.... completely (many GBs) from backup BEFORE any changes. Started TB and Local folders ARE STILL CORRUPTED! Looks like something outside user\appdata\Local and user/appdata/Roaming etc is causing the problem. PLEASE HELP

Trying to set up Thunderbird on new computer. I do NOT want to import anything but address book from old computer. I use Thunderbird to Gmail since I also have an Android phone and want to access emails with Thunderbird and Gmail. I downloaded the Thunderbird installer, but I cannot log into Gmail when the Thunderbird setup asks me to EVEN THOUGH I know I am using the correct Gmail password, it is rejected as incorrect. Do I need to set up a whole new Gmail account? I MUST use the same email address, and I doubt Google will allow me to set up a new account with that address.

HELP. About a week ago my Thunderbird email began giving me "Not responding" email messages and, no matter what I did, it would shut down and then reboot, reloading the 250 or so messages on the server. I finally tried UNINSTALLING and and discovered that that action also uninstalled my email program on my Iphone. I REINSTALLED and all my messages came back on my laptop and THEN SOME. I currently have 23,000 messages in my INBOX, up to maybe one hundred copies of the same message over and over and over and over...Every time I tried to highlight a message and delete it, I'd get a "not responding" notice then it would reload the same messages. PLEASE, I've had Thunderbird for more than 10 years and have even been able to donate a small amount from time to time but will have to leave if this problem can't be solved. I use email for my business and send and receive more than 250 emails a day. I want ALL the email in my inbox deleted but still retain the emails stored and all my contacts list. I still receive emails on my micheledrier@att.net address and have begun using an alternative, mjdrier@gmail.com PLEASE, SOMEONE OUT THERE...I'm desperate... Thank you, Michele Drier

I have Thunderbird installed on my PC and I have a HOW TO question.

I have my wife's email account setup to forward all mail to my email account. When the mail arrives, I have a filter that moves her mail to a folder and that filter works great. My problem was that we received an email yesterday where the TO line contained my both my email addresses (i.e. MMMM.xxxxx.com WWWW.ggggggggg.com). My email is not filtered and stays in the inbox but when the message arrived, the filter saw her address on the TO line in addition to my address and moved the message to her folder and I did not see the message since it was no longer in the inbox.

I tried to setup new, additional filter that I thought might work where the TO line contained both addresses where the filter action was to copy the message to her folder but leave the message in inbox but that didn't work. Since this message was from our homeowners association I tried FROM contains (i.e. @HOAssociation.com) and one or both of our email addresses on the TO line with the action still being a copy to her folder but that didn't seem to work either.

It was late at night (early morning) so I gave up and decided to ask for help so if anyone knows how to set this up. please let me know. Thanks.

I got this answer by david 5 déc. 2024, 20:49:45 :

"check that your SMTP server has these settings: smtp.office365.com, port 587, STARTTLS, Oauth2

There are thousands and thouusands of users using outlook accounts"

But my SMTP server settings are the same as those preconized by David !

Someone has another idea ?

I am grateful for the recently added ability to see a sender's URL in the "From" column. However, the URL is always preceded by a name or some other text; and when sorting the list in any folder on From, it sorts on the preceding text, not on the URL itself.

That prefix text is often (to me) meaningless and/or useless. I want to be able to sort on the URL itself without involving the text. If this is already possible I haven't figured out how to do it. If it's not possible now, I request that it be made available as a configurable option.
