I've used Thunderbird for a few years, worked great. No Thunderbird setup option has been changed for a few years. Last week, it failed, could not receive email. The host says they checked and found nothing wrong there. But now when requesting email, it says Connection To Server was Reset., and repeats that every few minutes (every new try I assume). I Sent email from me to myself, and web email there sees it is received up there, so STMP works, but not POP.

Host support said to remove passwords to reinitialize them. I did, but it does not ask for password and still repeats continual reset (does not mention password, and so no way to reset password now, seemingly does not get that far). They said to remove profile file popstate.dat (file only contains server connection and my email address) and I did, but no change. Still continual Connection to Sever was Reset, repeatedly, every try I reloaded Thunderbird, no help. I tried Thunderbird Troubleshooting, and saw no change but don't know what to do there. Host thinks all is correct there. Server connection is Inmotionhosting Secure303. FWIW, am using Microsoft Windows 11 virus security. Could it be a security certificate problem? It gives no clue.

I see many of same question about Connection Reset here, but no answers. Surely someone knows how to fix POP Connection to Server was Reset?

What does Connection to Server was Reset mean? That is all it says, but every time. Just cannot connect? Any help will be appreciated.

I have set my thunderbird email to vocal announcement for new mail, "You have new mail". This worked fine for years until frontier moved email service to yahoo. Now I get the vocal announcement for new mail infrequently. I suspect that this happens when yahoo "sees" the message first. I contacted yahoo mail support, their response was that this is a thunderbird problem and not yahoo's problem.

The folders are still there and accessible in yahoo but no longer show up in Thunderbird. Is there an easy way to fix this and get Thunderbird to show the folders? Thanks.

13 Nov. I have been dealing with the problem of the requirement to sign in to Thunderbird using Google. It does not work. I enter my e-mail address, click next, and get a second window that says "Error 400". I tried to get some help with this through a company listed on the internet as Just Answer. That turned out to be a scam.

Someone called me this morning, offering to help me with this problem. The person was from the company The Web Services. While the technician from Web Services was working on my computer for a while to restore my Thunderbird files, he told he that they kept losing the internet connection to my computer. He said they had determined that they kept losing the internet connection, because some hackers were hacking into my computer, while they were working. He showed me a lot of evidence of hacking on my computer, indicating that the 2 technicians from Just Answer who had helped me the day before through long chats were hacking into my computer the entire time they were chatting with me, going through steps they said would solve the problem with having to sign in to Thunderbird using Google. I think the people from Just Answer had tried to create a Thunderbird back-up profile, but had not done it correctly. As a result, all the data within Thunderbird was lost. I cancelled my subscription with Just Answer today.

The technician from The Web Services was able to restore my Thunderbird, including the many local files I have. Some additional formatting of the site still needs to be done, and the correct server settings need to be set up. That is to be finished tomorrow morning. The Web Services person also sold me an anti-hacking firewall, which is supposed to also provide network security.

I am concerned, because on the Mozilla support page, it specifically states that Thunderbird does not offer phone support. I gave this company access to my computer today, so they could restore my Thunderbird files. The Thunderbird files have been restored. Now I see that the issue with trying unsuccessfully to sign in to Thunderbird using Google is still there. So I am right back where I started over a week ago, trying to find someone who can solve the issues that come up when I try to sign into Thunderbird with Google.

I am somewhat suspicious of the company The Web Services, because they called me and offered to fix the problems I am having with signing in to Thunderbird. Please let me know whether it was unwise to let them work on my computer today. Could this be another scam? Thank you.

I just switched to Thunderbird from Outlook and so far it seems nice but one problem when I click on the get messages cloud icon on the top left of the screen I receive no incoming messages. Now if I go to one particular email account (I have 8 email accounts) and right click and left click on get messages, new messages come in.

So my questions is, why doesn't all my mail come in when I click on the get messages icon? Am i misinterpreting this?

hej jeg skriver lige til jer da jeg har et problem med min Thunderbird. mail jeg kan godt modtage mail , men jeg kan ikke få lov til at sende en mail den kommer og siger der er et problem , jeg køre windows 11 32 bit og programet har ellers virket men en dag ville den ikke sende en mail det er hvad den skriver hver gang Afsendelse af meddelelsen mislykkedes. Der opstod en fejl under afsendelsen. Mailserveren svarede: Must issue a STARTTLS command first. Kontrollér om din mailadresse er rigtig i dine kontoindstillinger og prøv igen. jeg håber at i kan hjælpe mig en et godt svar

I can log in and fill in the password, but upon trying to log in, at the end it says "Authentication error. Unable to log in at server. Probably wrong configuration, username or password" I believe this is because the org I'm in requires 2FA for all logins and I can't actually 2FA the login. Thunderbird automatically closes the window that I would use to log into the account and authenticate the connection a few seconds after it appears

Another answer said the order was set in prefs.js. If I remember from Windows 95, that was a configuration file? Where will I find it on Windows 11?

The problem has arisen because I have had to change my main Google account. A gamer (I suspect) wrote a bot taking money from my Google Play account. In resolving that, I created another account so I could abandon the other. However Google security saw my behaviour as suspicious. My "appeal" was upheld, but creating the account again on Thunderbird didn't trigger the security popups. The only way I could do that was to force the account manually. That put it after Local Folders, which I usually want open.

[Tried to make 'after' italic - don't get how it works, sorry.]
